Our schoolmates attending the ACS/MBS Union Official Opening of the new Union House at Edgecumbe Road, Penang.
The previous Friday Gathering took place three months ago with a group of four individuals. However, on 2/2/2024, we reconvened with an additional member, making it a group of five. Both Shin Tiad and Poh Chan appeared very refreshed, having recently had their hair neatly trimmed.
Shin Tiad shared his
exciting adventure from his trip overseas to the West, while Poh Chan proudly
declared himself as the oldest member of the group. We were also made aware
that Master George had just celebrated his 90th birthday, Cheng Wah will be
turning 81 next month, and the rest of us will be turning 80 later this year.
Let's raise a toast to all those celebrating!
Furthermore, we received news that the ACS/MBS Union has been relocated to Edgecumbe Road. Shin Tiad will coordinate a day for us to visit the new premises.
We noticed that the atmosphere at Northam Beach Café was not the same as before. Several hawker stalls were closed, and the place was not as crowded. The band played loud music, and the singers belted out Mandarin songs, unlike the one-man band who used to serenade us with our old favorites from Dean Martin and Tom Jones.
It seems like it's time for us to consider changing the venue.
